The American Butt Weld 45° Elbow is a butt weld connection for gentle 45° turning in pipework systems, conforming to ASME B16.9, for use in high temperature, high pressure or corrosive fluid lines (e.g. petroleum/chemical pipework).
American butt weld 45° elbow
Manufacturing Process: Available in hot formed or cold rolled process.
Diameter sizes: 1/2′ to 48′ for small pipe systems, with larger diameters available on a custom basis to meet a variety of industrial and commercial needs.
Wall thickness specifications: firemins produces critical wall thicknesses to meet piping specifications ranging from gauge 10 to gauge 160, ensuring that customers can customize their products to meet their requirements.
Testing: To ensure pipe performance, each pipe is hydrostatically pressure tested for pressure resistance, ultrasonically tested and radiographically inspected to ensure product integrity.
Surface treatment: The surface of the pipe fittings is finely polished to make the surface smooth. Anti-corrosion coatings such as epoxy resin/paint/galvanizing can be added to the surface to improve the corrosion resistance of the product.
Media Compatibility: Environments containing hydrogen sulfide require the use of NACE MR0175 certified materials.
Welding process: Thick wall (SCH80+) fittings require preheating + interlayer temperature control to avoid cold cracking.
About American Butt Weld 45° Elbow
Core Strengths
- Optimisation of fluid efficiency: 45° bend angle reduces turbulence and reduces pressure drop by 15-25% compared to 90° elbows, suitable for pumping energy-sensitive systems.
- Reliable construction: Continuous welds around the entire circumference (no bolts/gaskets), X-ray inspection to ensure 100% leak-free (in accordance with ASME B31.3).
- Extreme working conditions: support -29 ℃ ~ 425 ℃ temperature range, low-temperature carbon steel (A333 Gr.6) or high-temperature alloy (A335 P11).
