What Is Pipe Coupling

Pipe Coupling Material
Carbon Steel: carbon steel pipe coupler is the accepted material for high pressure environment, it has excellent pressure-bearing capacity, high strength and high pressure resistance performance makes it widely used in oil, gas, chemical, electric power and other industries. It can also be galvanized to enhance its corrosion resistance.
HDPE: HDPE couplers are extremely lightweight, have excellent chemical resistance, are insulated, and have a smooth inner wall with low resistance. It adopts electrofusion or thermal fusion connection, which can realize the permanent sealing with the same life of the pipeline, without the worry of leakage. Commonly used in the discharge of chemical media.
Stainless steel: available in 304 or 316 stainless steel. Stainless steel couplings have excellent corrosion resistance, beautiful and hygienic appearance, can also withstand high temperatures, generally used in the pharmaceutical and food industries. Among them, 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum, which is more resistant to pitting, especially suitable for chloride environment.
Ductile Iron: ductile iron has good toughness, not only the strength of steel, but also has the corrosion resistance of cast iron. As a commonly used material in the water supply and fire protection industry, it is extremely cost effective and its high price/performance ratio makes it a popular material for municipal drainage systems.

American Standard Socket Weld & Threaded Series
These products strictly follow the requirements of the American standard specifications, such as ASME B16.11, and feature robustness and sealing. The size range is NPS 1/8″-4″ (DN6-DN100). It supports threaded connections such as NPT (National Pipe Threads) or BSPT (British Standard Pipe Threads). It is widely used in high pressure and high temperature piping system in petroleum, chemical, electric power, shipbuilding and other industries.
- Socket weld coupling: American style socket weld fittings are often used in high pressure environments because of their high strength and excellent fatigue resistance. This pipe fitting is made by inserting the pipe into the socket and welding it along the bevel. This type includes American socket weld coupling and American socket weld half-coupling.
- Threaded coupling: the sealing of a threaded fitting is achieved by mechanical engagement of NPT, tapered pipe threads. It can be manufactured without the need for fire work and can be installed quickly. This type includes American threaded coupling and American threaded half-coupling.
- Combination coupling: combination couplings have different welding methods on both ends, which are socket welded on one end and threaded on the other. It can connect and weld different forms of tubes or equipment interfaces. The design is very flexible. Products of this type include American socket weld x threaded coupling.
Grooved Series
Grooved couplings are a revolutionary advancement in modern piping development. It is realized by clamping the pipe flange to ensure the sealing and fastening annoyance, it has the great advantage of flexible anti-vibration, efficient installation and easy maintenance. The size range is DN15-DN300, DN50-DN200 (2“~8”), DN50-DN600 (2“~24”) and so on.
- Rigid grooved coupling: rigidly locks the pipe without allowing displacement or deflection, providing a similar fixing as a welded or flanged connection, but with faster installation. This type of product includes rigid grooved coupling, heavy-duty rigid grooved coupling, quick rigid grooved coupling, quik-coup one bolt rigid grooved coupling.
- Flexible grooved coupling: flexible grooved coupling allows the pipe to be angularly deflected within the permissible range, and can also be axially displaced. It protects the safe operation of the system while absorbing vibration and stress. The product range includes standard flexible grooved couplings, heavy-duty flexible grooved couplings for more demanding applications and larger pipe diameters, and reducing flexible grooved couplings for direct connection of different pipe diameters. Quick flexible grooved coupling has high installation efficiency.
HDPE & Transition Series
For high density polyethylene pipes, HDPE couplings are generally used. The size range is DN20~DN600 (steel end) / DN20~DN710 (HDPE end).
- HDPE coupling: this product is specially produced for HDPE pipes. The product is connected by electrofusion or heat fusion to realize permanent sealing with the same life span as the base material. Products include Plain end HDPE coupling.
- Transition HDPE to steel coupling: these products have an HDPE connection at one end and can be threaded, flanged or grooved at the other. It can realize the safe transition between metal pipes and HDPE pipes.
