The Grooved 45° Elbow is a critical piece of piping used to change the direction of a line in a piping system, and is designed with a 45° turn to accommodate space constraints or where a gentle turn is required.
Grooved 45° Elbow
- Quick connection can be realized: the installation can be completed through the mechanical bite of the fixture, without the need for welding or the assistance of complex tools.
- Adapt to complex arrangement: 45° elbow can flexibly adjust the pipeline direction and reduce space occupation.
- Multi-material seals: support EPDM, FKM and other materials to adapt to different media (water, oil, gas).
- Low fluid resistance: the curvature radius design of 45° elbow (R=1.5D) reduces the energy loss of media flow.
- Optimized structural design: grooved connection reduces the risk of leakage through pressure self-tight sealing.
- Carbon steel: cost-effective, suitable for high-pressure steam, oil and gas pipelines (Class 600 pressure ≤ 1,480psi).
Carbon Steel vs Ductile Iron vs Stainless Steel
| Property | Carbon Steel | Ductile Iron | Stainless Steel |
| Strength | High (Yield Strength ≥250 MPa) | Moderate (Yield Strength ≥350 MPa) | High (Yield Strength ≥205 MPa) |
| Corrosion Resistance | Requires galvanizing/coating | Requires galvanizing/epoxy coating | Excellent (innate corrosion resistance) |
| Cost Efficiency | Low (≈1/3 cost of stainless steel) | Moderate | High |
| Typical Applications | High-pressure steam, oil/gas pipelines | Fire protection, building water systems | Chemical, food/pharmaceutical industries |
- Strength: Ductile iron offers higher tensile strength than carbon steel but lower than stainless steel in high-temperature environments.
- Corrosion Resistance: Stainless steel excels in harsh chemical or marine environments without additional coatings.
- Cost: Carbon steel is the most economical for non-corrosive applications
