The ANSI grooved flange two-piece is an innovative pipe connector designed for fast installation and high reliability sealing through the combination of grooved mechanical occlusion and flange sealing. The two-piece construction consists of a grooved socket end and a standard flange end, with a rubber seal (EPDM/NBR) for a static seal and bolted fastening for axial compression. The design combines the installation efficiency of grooved connections (up to 70% less labor time than welding) with the removability of flanged connections, making it particularly suitable for fire protection systems, HVAC and industrial network retrofit projects.
ANSI Grooved Flange Two-Piece (Flanged Adapter) Specification
Structural Decomposition
- Flange end assembly
Standard ANSI flange: Class 150/300 RF face type, bolt holes are distributed according to ASME B16.5 standard.
Back machined groove: depth of 2.5-3.2mm, with rubber sealing ring to form a double sealing structure . - Groove socket end
Roll-forming groove: U-shape cross-section design, width matched Victaulic Gasket Profile.
Embedded EPDM sealing ring: Shore hardness 70±5, temperature range -30℃~120℃. - Connection Mechanism
High-strength bolts: ASTM A193 B7 material, preload torque value is marked on the flange neck.
Anti-shear keyway: Hirth tooth structure prevents axial displacement of pipeline.
ASME B16.5 and MSS SP-58
| Comparison Dimension | ASME B16.5 | MSS SP-58 |
| Standards Organization | American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) | Manufacturers Standardization Society (MSS) |
| Primary Scope | Design, manufacturing, inspection of pipe flanges and flange fittings | Material, design, manufacturing, selection, application, and installation of pipe supports and hangers |
| Pressure Ratings | Class 150 to 2500, covering multiple flange types and sizes | Does not specify pressure ratings; focuses on structural design of support systems |
| Sealing Face Types | Specifies various sealing face types (e.g., RF, FF, RTJ) | Does not regulate sealing face types |
| Material Requirements | Defines material requirements for flanges/fasteners (e.g., ASTM A105/A182) | Provides material selection guidance (less detailed than ASME B16.5) |
| Inspection & Testing | Mandates detailed inspections (e.g., RT, PT) and testing | Primarily visual/dimensional checks with lower requirements |
| Connection Types | Covers flange joints, butt-welded connections, etc. | Does not regulate connection types (supports must match pipe connections) |
| Dimensions & Tolerances | Specifies detailed dimensions/thickness/tolerances for flanges | Provides dimensional/tolerance guidance (differs from flange connections) |
