The Groove Fitting is a grooved street connection pipe that can be installed quickly. It reduces the complexity of traditional welded or threaded pipe. It has a unique grooved fitting structure and is suitable for application scenarios such as construction, industrial, fire protection, air conditioning as well as heating. It serves as the preferred solution for modern modular engineering, especially for applications that require frequent maintenance or expansion.

Grooved Pipe Supply Range

Supply Range of Diameters: DN15 (15mm) to DN1200 (1200mm); larger sizes available.

Range of Thickness: SCH 5S (≤ 1.5 mm) to SCH XXS (≥ 10 mm), adjusted to the pressure class (e.g., Class 150/300).

Test: Hydrostatic test (1.5 times the working pressure, holding pressure for 30 minutes without leakage).

Performance Tests: Air tightness test, vibration test (ASTM E119), rubber gasket durability test.

Certificates: ISO 9001 (quality management), UL/FM (fire protection system), API 5L (oil and gas), CE/PED (EU Pressure Equipment Directive).

Surface Treatment:

  • Anti-corrosion coating: hot-dip galvanising (average zinc layer ≥80μm), epoxy resin spraying (dry film thickness ≥250μm), polyurethane coating.
Special treatment: PTFE lining (chemical corrosion resistance) or 3PE coating (corrosion resistance for buried pipelines).

Range of Length:

  • Standard length: 6 metres (fixed length) or 12 metres (long pipe), customised from 1 to 18 metres.
  • Cutting tolerance: ±5mm (±2mm for precision engineering).
  • Production Process: Hot rolled/cold rolled steel plate rolled and ERW process or seamless .
  • Groove processing: special groove rolling machine to press out the standard groove.
  • Surface treatment: Shot blasting and descaling → galvanising/spraying → curing.
  • End Finishing: Chamfering to avoid burr damage to sealing ring.
  • Steel Grades: Carbon Steel: ASTM A53 Gr.B , ASTM A106 Gr.B, API 5L Gr.B/X42-X70.

Advantages of Groove pipe

  1. Fast No welding and secondary galvanizing are required, and there is no direction requirement for installing the fastening bolts. The pipeline installation speed is more than three times faster than traditional welding, threaded connection and flange connection.
  2. Simple It is lighter than the flange, with only two fastening bolts, no need for hole alignment and locking, and no special requirements for installation.
  3. Reliable High-strength ductile iron is selected for long service life. The clamp, gasket and pipe end groove are pressed tightly around the entire circumference, and the pipe end has high tensile strength. The test pressure reaches 4.2Mpa, the temperature is -30°C~100°C, and the vacuum degree can reach 0.08Mpa.
  4. Safety Grooved pipe joints do not require power supply during construction, and do not require electric or gas welding. There will be no damage to equipment and valves in the pipeline due to welding, and there will be no fire caused by welding slag splashing.
  5. Economical Save about 20% of the total project cost compared to flange connection.
  6. Vibration isolation The sealing gasket in the groove pipe fittings can isolate the transmission of noise and vibration.
  7. No pollution There is no problem of welding slag and damage to the galvanized layer when installing groove pipe fittings, so the pipeline can be ensured to be unobstructed. The connected pipes, especially the fire sprinkler system, will not produce rust slag to block the equipment and sprinkler heads in the pipeline due to other connection methods.
  8. Wide application Grooved pipe fittings can be connected to any pipeline (except non-metallic pipes), especially for pipelines with anti-corrosion requirements.
  9. Easy maintenance Disassembly and maintenance only need to loosen the bolts and remove the clamps, which is convenient for pipeline connection, replacement, and rotation direction.

Minimum wall thickness and groove size of steel pipe

Minimum wall thickness of steel pipes is usually 1.5 mm (corresponding to SCH 5S grade), depending on the pipe diameter and pressure requirements; trench dimensions (depth/width) are designed according to standards, e.g.:

DN50 pipe: trench depth approx. 1.52mm, width 1012mm;
DN200 pipe: depth 2.53mm, width 1518mm.
Grooves need to comply with ANSI/AWWA C606 or GB/T 19228 standards to ensure compatibility with clamps and sealing reliability.
