LAB

Why does fire protection piping need an independent lab?

In the fire protection system, the pipeline is the core carrier for transporting water and resisting fire, and its performance is directly related to the safety of life and property. However, there are two major pain points in the industry:
Testing relies on outsourcing: most manufacturers can only provide basic size testing, key performance tests need to be entrusted to a third party, the cycle is long, the cost is high, and the data transparency is low;
Quality traceability fault: external inspection reports cannot be accurately correlated with production batches, making it difficult to detect hidden dangers in a timely manner.
The value of Firemins Labs:
Whole industry chain testing capability: from raw materials to finished products, covering the whole dimension of chemical composition, mechanical properties, microstructure, etc.;
Real-time quality monitoring: simultaneous sampling of the production process to ensure that the problem “not overnight”;
Customized R&D support: develop special piping solutions for special scenarios.

Charpy impact test

Charpy Impact Test

Definition: To simulate the resistance to brittle fracture of pipeline under low temperature or sudden impact (e.g. earthquake, vehicle collision);

Execution standard: GB/T 229-2020 “Charpy Pendulum Impact Test Method for Metallic Materials”;

Our capability: -40℃~50℃ full temperature zone testing, accurately matching the needs of fire fighting in different climate zones.

Flattening Test

Definition: Compress the pipe section to the specified deformation to test the integrity and ductility of the weld;

Industry pain point: poor quality pipes are prone to cracks and delamination when compressed;

Our precision: using servo hydraulic system, deformation control error ≤ 0.1mm.

Metallographic Analysis

Metallographic Analysis

Definition: Observe the microstructure of the material through microscope to determine whether the heat treatment process is up to standard;

Typical case: a batch of steel pipe grain size abnormality (5 → 3) was found to avoid the risk of pipe burst due to lack of strength.

Tensile Test

Definition: Determination of key indexes such as tensile strength, yield strength and elongation;

Equipment upgrading: 1000kN microcomputer-controlled electronic universal testing machine has been introduced, which can test DN1200 large-caliber pipes.

Tensile Test

Chemical Analysis

Definition: Spectrometer accurately detects the content of C, Mn, S, P and other elements, eliminating “second best”;

Database support: 10 years of material data accumulation, the establishment of fire pipeline special composition model.

Our Achievements

The laboratory not only tests pipes and fittings for conformity, it is also a symbol of hard power.

  • TUSPIPE has established a testing and inspection center since 2004.
  • It can perform a series of advanced tests such as tensile test, hydraulic test, impact test, DWTT and so on.
  • The laboratory has been evaluated by China National Committee for Conformity Assessment (CNCA) and has successfully obtained CNAS laboratory accreditation.
  • The test results of the laboratory are recognized by 35 management system certification bodies and other 54 national laboratory accreditation bodies.
  • The company has successively obtained the qualifications and honors of “Enterprise Technology Center” and “Key Laboratory of ERW Steel Pipe”, and is also part of the “Key Technology R&D Center” cultivated by Tianjin Municipality.
