Pipe Hanger

Pipe Hanger

Pipe hangers are important load-bearing structures in pipeline systems and are key components for supporting, suspending and fixing pipelines. Their main function is to ensure the stability of pipelines by bearing, reducing vibration and compensating for displacement. In order to adapt to high temperature, high pressure or vibration environments, the types include fixed, adjustable and earthquake-resistant types, so there are two connection methods: rigid connection and elastic connection, and they comply with international standards such as MSS SP-58 and ASME B31.3, and are widely used in industry and construction.

Pipe Hanger Types and Functions

Load-bearing and displacement compensation function

Constant force support and hanger: Maintains a constant load through a specific mechanical structure, suitable for pipe sections with large vertical displacement. It can effectively withstand load changes caused by movement and keep the pipeline position unchanged.
Variable force spring support and hanger: The load is dynamically adjusted according to the thermal expansion and contraction of the pipeline, suitable for scenes with large temperature changes or pressure changes.
Rigid support and hanger: Completely limits the vertical displacement of the pipeline, usually used for the fixed end of the pipe section or areas where vibration needs to be strictly controlled.
Sliding bracket: The pulley can be used to allow the pipeline to move horizontally, and it can also withstand vertical loads, which is very suitable for thermal pipelines.
Rolling bracket: The roller or ball structure is used, the friction is very small, and it can provide smooth pipeline movement, which is suitable for long-distance transportation.
Fixed bracket: Completely limits pipeline displacement, used at the end of the pipe section or equipment connection.

Vibration and shock control functions

Vibration-damping device: absorbs low-frequency vibration through elastic elements to reduce the amplitude of pipeline shaking.
Damping device: control the high-speed vibration caused by earthquake or shock, and allow free thermal expansion and contraction of the pipeline.

Displacement Guidance and Restriction Functions

Guiding device: guides the pipe displacement in a specific direction, preventing lateral offset.
Limiting device: partially restricts the displacement of the pipe in a specific direction, usually not subject to vertical loads.

Special application types

Assembled Heavy Duty Hanger: galvanized channel beams with bolted connections, flexible configuration of load bearing structure, suitable for large diameter or high load pipes.

Application Scenarios and Functional Analysis of Pipe Hanger

Industrial Field
Pipe hangers play a vital role in various industries, especially in the fields of petrochemical, power and energy. Pipe hangers are used to support high-temperature and high-pressure pipelines and are used in very extreme environments. Therefore, the design and materials of the hangers are very important. In order to resist changes in temperature and pressure, constant/variable force spring hangers made of carbon steel or stainless steel can be used to compensate for thermal displacement to resist corrosion. Long-distance pipelines can be installed with rolling bearings to minimize friction and ensure that the thermal expansion of the pipeline is within a controllable range. The pharmaceutical and food industries require sanitary stainless steel hangers to meet sterility requirements.

Building and Municipal
In building HVAC systems, in order to reduce thermal stress, sliding brackets allow pipes to be horizontal. In HVAC systems, fans will generate very significant vibrations when they are working, and rubber shock-absorbing hangers are used to absorb fan vibrations. In fire protection and water supply systems, the main function of rigid hangers is to fix key nodes. Rigid hangers are used to fix key nodes in fire protection and water supply and drainage systems, while seismic hangers are required in seismic design and are used in conjunction with inclined support structures to resist seismic loads according to GB50981 specifications.

Special Fields
In extreme environments, due to the extremely low temperature of the transported medium, solidification may occur, so we must use low-temperature galvanized hangers to prevent condensation. Strong acid and alkali pipelines in chemical plants are very corrosive, so plastic or alloy hangers must be used. For precision applications, guide brackets are used to limit lateral deflection and ensure the accuracy of instrument connections. For high-load or large-diameter pipelines, fabricated channel steel hangers are used to support large-diameter, high-load pipelines, taking into account flexibility and strength.
