  • T-branch: branch port at 90° or 45° to main.
  • Standard: ASME B16.11, ASTM A105/A182.
  • Size range: 1/8“ to 4” (NPS)
  • Testing Requirements: PT, RT

American Socket Weld Reducing Tee is a pipe connector that connects three-way pipes by socket welding, in which the diameter of the branch port is smaller than that of the main pipeline, and is used to regulate the flow or change the direction of the pipeline.

  1. Selection: With Class 3000 (normal pressure), 6000/9000 (high pressure occasions) and other pressure options to avoid overpressure leading to leakage or burst.
  2. Processing: Interlayer temperature needs to be controlled below 150℃, and slow cooling treatment is required after welding (e.g. 316L material needs to be protected by argon gas).
  3. Testing: Penetration testing (PT) to check for surface cracks, and radiographic testing (RT) to ensure that the weld is free of porosity or unfused (Class II pass).
  4. Application: Generally used for small diameter pipes (NPS≤4) and fixed systems, not recommended for pipes with frequent vibration or thermal cycling.
  5. Installation: Align the pipe axis to avoid angular deviation or excessive tension leading to joint breakage.
